Srilankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan reached a career milestone when he took 800 wickets and created history in the First test match between India and Srilanka at Galle.The match will go down in the history books as the cricketing spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan’s Swansong!

Spin genius Muttiah Muralitharan brought down the curtains on his Test career in a blaze of glory, by becoming the first cricketer to scalp 800 wickets on Thursday, the 22nd of July 2010. It was day five of the first test match between India and Srilanka at Galle and all eyes were on Murali. It was only a question of when the magical figure of 800 would be attained by one of the greatest bowlers of all times. Murali reached the magical mark when he dismissed Ojha, after a stubborn tenth wicket Indian stand! Murali, thus became the first bowler to reach this landmark of 800 test wickets, achieved at a strike rate of 22.72 in 133 Tests. Muttiah Muralitharan has taken five wickets in an innings, on 67 occasions and his statistical achievements run to pages!
Murali bowed out of Test cricket when he was carried away from the field by jubilant teammates with he saluting the home crowd, ball held aloft!
